Commence your trek at Umbwe Gate, the starting point of the Umbwe Route. Hike through lush rainforests filled with unique flora and fauna. Reach Umbwe Cave Camp, located at an elevation of approximately 2,940 meters (9,646 feet), for your first overnight stay on the mountain.

Continue your ascent through the rainforest, encountering steep and challenging sections. Arrive at Barranco Camp, situated at an elevation of about 3,950 meters (12,959 feet), and set up camp for the night.

Embark on a steep hike, transitioning from the rainforest to the moorland zone. Enjoy stunning views of Kilimanjaro’s southern ice fields. Reach Umbwe Moorland Camp, located at an elevation of approximately 4,100 meters (13,450 feet), for your overnight stay.
